Early in October, we made a final trip to Cranbrook (for this season anyways) to spend time with Alex. It is a lovely time of year to camp as there are so few other people set up around the lake and none are noisy. So much different than summer, LOL!! While the evenings are chilly, good preparation and equipment can ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Hot water bottles at night sure don’t hurt either.
Just west of Cranbrook you find the ‘western slopes’ of the Rocky Mountain range ~ not quite as famous as the eastern parks of Banff and Jasper, but still quite spectacular. There are so many walks to choose from, and we just enjoyed spending the days together being out in nature, getting some fresh air and chatting about this and that.
We even enjoyed a classic family game of Carcassonne at our campsite. A few years ago I picked up the ‘big box’ edition with all of the expansion packs and we have made good use of it. We are even trying to figure out how we can play ‘virtually’ without being in the same space, LOL!
