Whew! The last half of August whizzed by. I have been really focused on my business and so less time outside and getting to my outdoor projects.
I have, however, gotten started on the pond. I got all 10 posts dug and settled and then I realized that it was way too high up. (I started from the top end, and I didn’t realize how steep the hillside actually is.) So I’ve gone back and started to put them each in deeper. I’ve got the bottom 4 done, and will gradually work my way up. It is really important to make sure the tops are level at this point, to ensure that there aren’t low spots around the sides for water to overflow. So I’m trying NOT to rush it, but to be thorough and exact at this stage.

The main pond will be visible from the living room window (between the two lilac bushes), and the sound of the waterfall (once it is complete and running) will help mask the traffic noises from the highway below us.
The plan is to have a bog filter at the top with the two tubes allowing flow back into the upper pond. Then from there, the water will spill over into a smaller pond/waterfall feature and then into a lower pond which will house the pump. The pipe connects the pump back up to the bog filter where all the impurities get removed.
Hah, hah. Using the photo above and the schematic on the right, I asked AI to create a photo for me. Here’s what it came up with. Not exactly what I am envisioning, LOL, but at least it gives a bit of an idea of what I have in mind!!

For now I am focused on the main pond. I need it in
place before winter so that I can get the fish out of their shallow home before freeze-up.
