The world is ‘alive’ with blossoms. We are well beyond the dandelions now, and there is perfume in the air. On our weekly hikes we are seeing more and more bounty as spring throws up its colourful blooms to lure the bees and pollinators to enable a new crop of seeds and berries to begin growing.
We live in a land of wild berries. Raspberries, elderberries, Saskatoon berries, chokecherries, salmon berries, hawthorn berries, wild apples…. petals litter the ground as we walk. I’m delighted to highlight here, some of the latest blossoms that we’ve encountered.

The Glacier lilies (similar to the Trout Lilies in the east) were in full bloom the day we hiked along the edge of the peak at the Brilliant Overlook near Castlegar.

Arrowleaf Balsamroot amongst the Saskatoons on the Montrose bluffs near Trail. There were clouds of Saskatoon berry and chokecherry blossoms in the air, all around us and under our feet as we hiked.

Violets and lilacs are blooming in my garden.
