I know some of you in the east aren’t feeling it, but.. in the Kootenays, spring is in the air. I went for a walk in the sunshine (and 10c weather) and gathered some fresh watercress for my pond. I also found some of the first seasons’ pussy willows and clipped a few of those to bring home and root.

The days are really getting longer now and in a couple of weeks we’ll switch to Daylight Savings Time, so the evenings will really stretch out, giving lots of time for productive outside work.
And…. Seedy Saturdays are starting to pop up at community centres around the area. This Saturday I 4-H’d it at a Plant Sale with Lindsay and Cora.

I love walking around the garden, seeing what’s growing this early in the season. I’ve found early season onions (Egyptian walking onions), the oregano is green, and the rhubarb is starting to poke up. This year, I have great hopes for a beautiful and bountiful garden. I can’t wait.
